Lifeline & Linkup
Lifeline is a government program
that assists the disabled, elderly and medically at-risk individuals in
receiving telephone service at reduced rates. To be eligible, you must
participate in either the Medicaid or Food Stamp programs. Lifeline can only be
used for the main telephone line in a household. Linkup helps pay a portion of
the connection charges for the telephone service to the outside of your house.
If you currently have telephone service with Pembroke Telephone Coop, there is
no charge to switch to Lifeline Service. Lifeline reductions do not apply to
long distance services, surcharges or taxes. Optional calling services are not
offered on telephone lines using Lifeline Service. Being a Lifeline or Link-Up
customer does not protect you from being disconnected if you fail to pay your
telephone bill. Call our office at 626-7111 for more information.

Important “Do Not Call” Reminder
The National Do Not Call Registry
was created to prevent unwelcome calls from telemarketers. It prohibits all
telemarketing except from companies with which you have an existing business
relationship, and certain non-profit organizations from calling you. Once your
number has been on the registry for thirty (30) days, telemarketers should no
longer call you. Your number will remain on the registry permanently unless you
request that it be removed. The Do Not Call Registry now also allows you to
register your personal cell phone numbers. To register your phone number simply
call (888) 382-1222 or (866) 290-4238 (TTY) You can also register or obtain
additional information by logging on to
www.donotcall.gov.
